Home Health Aide

Home Healthcare Aides assist patients in their homes by focusing on their specific health and personal needs. Emphasis is on giving personal care in a client’s home, communications, working with ill persons, basic human needs, eldercare, nutrition, special diets, and home management.
They also work in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, home care, long term care facilities, hospice and assisted living facilities.
The services delivered by the home health aide directly support the skilled home health care services. Such services may include but are not limited to:
1. Assisting with a prescribed exercise regimen;
2. Supervising the member’s compliance with prescribed, selfadministered medication;
3. Supervising the member’s compliance with special diets
4. Routine care of prosthetic and orthotic devices;
5. Changing a non-sterile dressing that does not require the skill of a nurse,
6. Performing health monitoring activities (e.g. blood pressure,
temperature, etc.).

Home Health Aide course is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary for a home health aide to work as part of the home health care team. The focus is on basic human needs, communications, working with ill persons, eldercare, nutrition, special diets, and home management.
