All theoretical knowledge presented in the classroom will be correlated with the student's clinical experience. The entire program is designed so that the learner will gain knowledge and experience to prepare him/her to perform competently in the clinical setting. Clinical experience includes practice in the skills laboratory and involves patient care assignment in various acute and long-term health care facilities.
The student will participate actively in the classroom, skills laboratory, and the clinical setting and the instructor will facilitate the learning process. The LVN program is designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of a Licensed Vocational Nurse (DOT code: 079.347-014) in a health care environment. The program is approved by the BVNPT as an accredited training program, the completion of which meets the minimum requirements set forth as necessary for application to take the Vocational Nurse License examination.
The program is presented in a quarter credit hour, standard term format consisting of four consecutive quarters. The program utilizes an integrated, sequential curriculum presented in theory, "hands on" practical lab and clinical experience formats.
The program presents instruction in: anatomy & physiology, nutrition, psychology, normal growth and development, nursing fundamentals, nursing process, communication, patient education, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, communicable diseases, gerontological nursing, rehabilitation nursing, pediatric nursing, leadership and supervision.

The full-time program length is 15 months of academic coursework and clinical rotations. Upon successful graduation, the student will be eligible to take the Licensing Exam for Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
