    LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE II - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
    Salary: $14.01 - $18.23 hourly$1,120.87 - $1,458.18 biweekly
    $2,428.56 - $3,159.40 monthly
    $29,142.67 - $37,912.78 annually

    To perform professional nursing duties in the care and services to patients and their families in the Emergency Department.

    The ED is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, perform nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, in the care of patients in a hospital inpatient setting and do other work as required.

    The Licensed Vocational Nurse is not an independent practitioner.

    The Licensed Vocational Nurse II is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant, Health Services Assistant, Medical Assistant, in that a state license is required of incumbents and they perform a more highly skilled form of patient care.

    Examples Of Duties:

    Licensed Vocational Nurses perform work in a hospital setting.

    They provide nursing care to patients; prepare patients and cares for them during treatment; administers medications; takes temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure; applies and changes dressings and administers treatments; charts treatments and medications and maintains pertinent medical records; may act as team leader over nursing assistants, supportive services aides, licensed psychiatric technicians, or other licensed vocational nurses.

    Typical Qualifications:

    Licensed vocational nurses in this class have 1 or more years experience working as an LVN in an ER and must be able to work nights.

    Supplemental Information:

    All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of both a pre-employment physical exam, including a drug/alcohol test, and a criminal background investigation, which involves fingerprinting. (A felony or misdemeanor conviction may disqualify the applicant from County employment).
