Like many of the 90,000 takers of the nursing board exams, Kristel Agcon goes to great lengths to become a nurse.
That's why on the eve of the exams held this weekend, she turned to a not-so-common method of preparation.
Aided by members of Soulfriends, a group of mystics based in Baguio City, Kristel performed an ancient ritual that she hoped would place her on a certain state of consciousness.
They began with an ancient Tibetan mantra, then, to a deep meditation.
“Pagkagising ko, hindi ako mapakali kasi bukas na exams. Nilapitan ko si sensei, nagpatulong ako. Willing naman nila akong tulungan,” said Kristel.
“This is to arrive to the alpha state. Makakatulong ito sa kanya para makapagperform ng maganda sa exam and access internal resources,” said Erwin Rimban, president of Soulfriends.
The Soulfriends believe that to be able to access all internal resources and perform, the mind must be in the alpha state of consciousness, which they believe is a prelude to heightened perception, creativity and intelligence.
This is done by rituals that increase relaxation and take away anxiety.
“Sa mga ganong kaimportanteng event, you don't have to be bothered by stress or anxiety,” said Tricia Galban, a psychologist.
“Know yourself. Pwede mong maabot ang alpha state to a certain degree kapag ginagawa mo ang relaxing para sayo,” said Michael James Abad, also of Soulfriends.
Through this ritual, Kristel believes she will have better chances of passing the board, and be a step closer to achieving her dreams.source Is the Vocational Nursing Profession a growing career? What do Vocational Nurses do? |
