Hallmark Health System announces that the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program has been designated a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN).
In a special presentation as part of its annual four-day summit, the NLN awarded this national designation for 2008-2011 to only six schools, including the multi-faceted Regis College School of Nursing and Health Professions, which includes the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program.
Regis College is one of only 15 nursing education institutions in the country ever to receive this recognition, about 1 percent, and the first to be designated in New England.
Each year since 2004, the NLN has invited nursing schools to apply for this designation based on their ability to demonstrate sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, or student learning and professional development. Schools must also have a proven commitment to continuous quality improvement.
“The Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program, as part of the Regis College School of Nursing and Health Professions, is honored to be named a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing,” said Marie McCarthy, the program’s vice president for education and associate chief nursing officer for Hallmark Health. “Providing a quality education is our top priority and this is what the Center of Excellence distinction is all about.”
The Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program, which is located on the hospital’s Medford campus, offers students a unique blend of classroom and clinical experience, expert faculty and a flexible curriculum.
The program is responsive to the diverse needs of applicants seeking a nursing education and accommodates student needs through a variety of schedule options, including day, night and weekend study.
