VERNON COLLEGE LVN NURSING PROGRAM TEAS EXAM The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam produced by Assessment Technologies Institute is required of all applicants to the Vernon College Vocational Nursing program. This test consists of reading, math, science, and English. Test is administered online, and the results are available immediately at the conclusion of the test.
What should I do to prepare for the TEAS?
There is a study manual that is available in the Vernon College Bookstore. The cost of the book is $48.75 plus tax.

Can I take the TEAS more than once?
VC allows students to take the test only one time per semester (spring, summer, fall). Only test scores from tests given at VC will be considered.
What should I bring to the test?
Students must bring a picture ID to the test session. They will need to provide their social security number and the testing fee. This test does not allow calculators.
When can I take the TEAS exam?
The TEAS exam is given by appointment only. The test will be given on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons on the Wichita Falls Century City campus or Wednesday afternoon on the Vernon campus. Call for an appointment time.
What is the cost of the exam?
The exam is $30 payable by check or cash.
How long does the test take?
The test itself is 3 hours and 29 minutes but please allow up to 4 hours for registration and examination time.
What subjects are covered on the exam?
The test has four subjects: reading, math, science, and English. The math subtest covers whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions and decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion. The reading subtest covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusion. The English subtest measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling. The science subtest covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles, and general science.
