McLennan Community College's Vocational Nursing Program is committed to preparing graduates that can safely and effectively fill a beginning technical level role as a member of the nursing team. Program graduates develop the beginning skills, knowledge, understanding and attitudes essential for giving safe, competent and effective care.
Vocational Nursing Admission Application (Transcripts from any colleges or universities must be submitted with application
International Student Admission Requirements for Nursing Programs (TOEFL) Students must demonstrate English proficiency as an admission requirement. This may either be demonstrated by attending all 4 high school years of one of the 50 United States and receiving a diploma or taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language Test (TOEFL) and scoring a minimum Internet score of 100 or a computer-based TOEFL score of 250 or a paper/pencil test score of 600. TOEFL results are only valid up to two years from the testing date. Scores will not be considered if they are more than two years old.
TOEFL Test score reports must be sent directly to the Vocational Nursing program director from the testing center.
When making application to the Vocational Nursing Program, students will be required to show proof or immunization against Hepatitis B (three immunizations), varicella, mumps, measles, rubella, diphtheria/tetanus, and a tuberculosis skin test or chest x-ray. Applicants need to show proof of certification in infant, child and adult CPR

Students must pass both the theory and clinical parts of any vocational nursing course to progress in the program. A grade of C or better must be earned in all courses required for a certificate of completion in Vocational Nursing.
