Academic Pre-requisite Courses

Vocational Nursing Program Degree Plan
For admission, complete the following prerequisite course(s) with a grade of C or higher:

BIOL 2404 Human Anatomy & Physiology OR
(both BIOL 2401 & BIOL 2402 Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II if planning to continue for
ADN degree after completing Vocational Nursing Certificate)
Additional courses which can be taken in advance which will apply to the Nursing Degree Plan:
• BIOL 1322 Nutrition may be taken in advance and credit will be given in the VN Program.
• RNSG 1301 Pharmacology may be taken in advance and credit will be given in the VN Program.
All courses accepted into the Vocational Nursing Program must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher. ALL Biology courses submitted for program credit must be completed no more than
five (5) years prior to admission to the nursing program.

Immunizations: Students who plan to apply to any health occupations program need to complete the
Hepatitis B vaccine series prior to beginning of the program. This series requires six months to
complete, so applicants must have completed this series by July 1, 2008. Students will be required to present documentation of progress or completion of the HEP B series at the time of submitting application.

Area clinical facilities are now requiring all health care students to have a background check prior to clinical rotations.
